1. For pale walls Arent&Pyke use Dulux ‘Natural White’ and Resene ‘Thorndon Cream’
2. Use paint sample pots to experiment with colours in your space and ask your local supplier for large sample cards of paint colours and tape them to your wall
3. For splashes of colour and pattern use cushions, throws and lamp shades smaller items are easy to change if you decide to freshen the look of the room

Interior designer Greg Natale on using pattern and colour
1. For intensity or impact use a larger pattern on walls, floors and upholstery and for less impact use smaller patterns in subtle tones
2. Consider the scale of the room when introducing colour, use colour in accessories and things that are easy to change.
3. Develop a colour palette that suits your lifestyle and personality
4. For neutral tones Greg recommends Dove Grey and Camel. For colour he uses greens, teal, powder blue, and lilac and black and white in combination.
